A Man's Two Best Friends... His Westendorf and His Dog

I really like the 340 loader; it's a very powerful loader, and it's made very well.  This loader really looks good on the tractor, like it's been molded to fit; you can see really well because of this.  I especially like the heavy-duty bucket and how easy the loader is to take on and off the tractor.  I've used it for everything around the farm and have not had any problems.  I'm a satisfied customer.

I owned a weld shop, and I was continuously fixing and repairing loaders. When I bought myself a loader, I was determined it was going to be a Westendorf loader. Nobody else had one like it. Whenever they saw my loader, they would say, 'That's the stoutest loader I've ever seen!' It was built stronger, and I never had any trouble with it.
What really convinced me of the loader's strength is in the following story:
I had a fire break out in the barn, over 2,000 gallons of gasoline started on fire. I had my tractor and loader parked in the barn. The fire melted the tires right off the tractor, melted the tractor's hood and busted up the cab. The loader was scorched, the decals and hoses had melted off, but I wasn't sure about the loader's condition so I called my local Westendorf dealer to come out and take a look. He told me that loader had an internal I-Beam or double wall construction and the loader wasn't damaged. I couldn't believe it didn't split the loader's frame. Nothing warped, no welds were broken, the bucket was still in excellent condition. I couldn't believe the loader wasn't hurt - I took it up the road to a body shop, had it sand blasted, repainted, reinstalled the hoses and sold it.
That was a good loader. I had a dozer blade, bucket and pallet fork. Even after 10 years I never had to sharpen the bucket's blade. I leveled dirt, pushed out trees and sprouts, the blade stayed sharp. I really like the easy hook up system. I could sit in the tractor seat and see what I was working with. The low-profile allowed me to see to align the units. All I had to do was back up, hook on to the other attachment and I was back to work.
My Westendorf loader was a really fine outfit - that's for sure. If I were to go back into farming again, I definitely wouldn't buy anything but a Westendorf.

My family & I were talking with a gentleman from Westendorf last Friday at your display at the Iowa State Fair, and we were telling him about the old 1940's Westendorf running gear that I had just restored. This running gear was a hay wagon when my Grandfather had it. I am getting ready to replace the wood and fix it back to a hay wagon for parades (and just for fun).
I was around 10 years old when my Grandfather would have me drive the tractor and pull this wagon. I lost my Grandfather back in the 90's. We found this running gear in the field where we previously stored the hay. The running gear was good as new when we found it. I am 41 years old, and I am very lucky to have my parents, as my Dad has been a big part of the restoration of this wagon.
Here are a couple of pictures I thought I would send you.

In my opinion, the best improvement to come along in attachments is the Stack Saver.  I stack large round bales three high in my hay shed and had lots of trouble with the top bale sticking and not wanting to come off the bale stabber.  Now with the Stack Saver, I put the top bale on the stack and push it off the stabber while I back up the tractor.  It has saved me an unknown amount of time and a lot of bad words.

Cat Claw 3-D Grab Fork

Last year I purchased an XTA-700A with a Cat Claw 3-D Grab Fork.  It is a fantastic piece of equipment!

Easy On & Off

I like the versatility my loader offers me by freeing up my tractor for other chores.  I can take it off practically anywhere.  Two minutes is actually stretching it for the time required to mount or dismount a Westendorf; plus you don't have to leave the tractor seat once the hoses are connected.

23 Years

I've had my WL-42 loader for 23 years and haven't had to ever put a weld on it!

Two Minutes is Stretching It

The easy-on and easy-off feature of my Westendorf keeps my tractor free for other chores.  You can take it off in the dirt--practically anywhere.  Two minutes is stretching it for time.  You don't have to leave the seat to attach the loader once the hoses are connected.

Before I purchased a set of Brush Crushers for my John Deere 740 loader I knew they were going to get a serious workout. Over 75% of my 80+ acres are wooded and some logs are 18 feet long!  After some practice I can finesse those claws pretty good and do some delicate work like moving around attachments for my Super C in and out of storage.  Most of the work is moving logs and stumps and an occasional actual brush pile.  I also used it to clean up some scrap iron around the farm. Those Brush Crushers are the Cat's Meow.

"Everyone says it's the Cadillac - but it's the Mercedes. It's a good heavy loader with good visibility. Other loaders sit a foot and a half above the hood, and that makes it hard to see. I love the quick On and Off feature because I don't have to lie down in the mud to take the loader off."
- H.B. Burch - Ekron, KY

"I had a few moments and thought I would take some time to let you know that we have been VERY pleased with the performance of our Westendorf canopy to date. I have to admit, when it first went on the tractor I had some serious concerns; but, here it is almost three months later, over hay fields, primary tillage, and just downright hot Central Michigan weather, and the Cool Cap™ has earned its stripes and my respect. Yes, I am a proud owner of a Cool Cap™ and am pleased to be seen on the tractor in the field sporting it. I feel that we will be getting many good years of service from our Cool Cap™, and we made the correct decision regarding the purchase of your product."

I like everything about my TA-28 loader - It's the best.  I clear a lot of manure, as I have a lot of cattle.  I use it to haul wood and handle brush.  It's got good lift height (over 13') and works great for stacking bales.  I couldn't get along without it!  I really like the quick-tach bucket teeth.  They work really good for scooping manure, an you were the only company I found that had a quick-tack style so the teeth don't need to be bolted on.  When I want them off they're off and when I want them on, they're on in just a few minutes.  That's quite a patent and loader you have.
